Dear Mr. Steadman,

Thank you very much for taking the time to talk to us today.

Here is the original document which was faxed to SMSD on November 28th, 2005 after emailing it to the .com address failed.  It might have actually been faxed at 2 or 3 minutes after midnight, technically, but it was written during that day and evening.

I also think I should send you the follow-up email that I sent after talking to #2004 in early December; that will come in a follow-up email.

I haven't reread what is below in its entirety, but I do see that at the end I thank #2004 for his "candor and professionalism."   That's funny -- all he actually was, was a smooth talker.

It's also interesting that Cunningham appeared on television in the afternoon, according to my letter, but my memory as described to you today was that it was in the morning.  I would trust the documentation, of course, to be more accurate!

Sincerely

Russell Hoffman

Incident #4798702 follow-up (two of two)

===========================================

August 17th, 2006

Dear Mr. Steadman,

This is the second of two emails to you today.  The first contains my original fax/email to the SMSD on November 28th, 2006.  This one contains my emailed response to a conversation with John Kelleher, apparently on the same day.

I would like to note that my primary concern at the time was still the following: That the last thing I wanted in the world was for Cunningham to change his mind and go ahead and commit suicide, which I considered a very real possibility if he thought he was going to get in trouble for THIS, too.  I'm not at all sure the stress of this incident isn't still a significant problem for him to overcome.  It would be nice if we could find a way to "free him" to tell the truth, so he can get the real help he needs, and, perhaps, rejoin society at some point.

I also am very interested in having the "Capital Psychiatrist" (who, in the weeks or months prior to this incident, got an assurance FROM Cunningham that he (Cunningham) would not act on his "suicidal ideations") know FOR CERTAIN that his "contract" with Cunningham not to act on those "ideations " was "null and void" and he's definitely NOT the great judge of character he (the psychiatrist) thinks he is.

Sincerely

Russell Hoffman

Follow-up (August 29th, 2006)

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the follow-up.  I don't think I talked much about the cook from the Thai restaurant with Deputy Cheever, but I'm pretty sure I did mention that I thought there was a cook from each restaurant there that night.

Sincerely,

Russell Hoffman

Hello

I have yet to speak with Deputy Cheever about your statements in his
report.  I did speak to his supervisor yesterday and he told me Cheever
was writing a supplemental report because of the information you
provided him.

Did you share the witness information with Cheever?

I truly feel for you and your issues with your father.  I remember how
tough it was.[Note: My father, Dr. Howard S. Hoffman, died August 30th, 2006 after many illnesses and a brief hospitalization -- ACE]

Thanks
Gary
